How do I choose

For many men, the range of treatment options for prostate cancer is bewildering. Sometimes different types of treatment options are combined to maximise the chances of cure and to minimise side effects.
How do I choose
Men considering treatment for prostate cancer should talk about options with their families and involve loved ones in discussions with their advising doctors.

At the Melbourne Prostate Institute (MPI) our Radiation Oncologists have a registry of past patients, both low-dose-rate or seed brachytherapy and high-dose-rate brachytherapy, who are willing to discuss their prostate cancer diagnosis, the treatment they selected and their experiences.

Please ask your Radiation Oncologist if you wish to have a confidential discussion with one of our men.

Further information is available from The Cancer Council Victoria Help Line on 13 11 20.

Men should also consider second opinions from qualified experts.  The Cancer Council Victoria provides sound advice in relation to this.
