There is considerable interest in trying to improve treatments
for prostate cancer. New treatment ideas are constantly
in the news. Gene therapy, for example, is a promising
idea for prostate cancer and over the next years and decades
may actually revolutionise treatment. New chemotherapy
agents are constantly being tested and new drugs may turnout
to be highly effective. Surgical and radiation techniques
are continually being improved. Newer techniques such as “intensity
modulated radiotherapy” (IMRT) are used increasingly
now in hospitals and may in time prove to be better than
more conventional forms of radiation.
